FPSO process crude oil and stock-up oil till when
it can be transferred onto a tanker ship or, seldom maybe, transferred via main oil pipeline to onshore refinery. Floating
production, storage and offloading vessels are mostly useful in isolated or
deep offshore sites, where ocean floor pipelines laying are not economical.
Offshore oil and gas field companies deploys FPSO
ship i.e, a floating production,
storage and offloading ship which are a converted tanker vessel used for
the production and processing of crude oils, and
for the storage of that oil. A FPSO ship is constructed to take in delivery of
hydrocarbons produced by its own or receives oil delivery from platforms or subsea
outline in close proximity,
Moreover, when those smaller oil field are
exhausted, the FPSOs vessel can be mobilized to a new oil production sites. FPSOs
are ideal in frontier offshore regions as they are uncomplicated to set up, and
do not necessitate a seabed pipeline infrastructure to transfer oil to ashore
terminals.
FPSOs abolish the necessity of laying costly long
expanse of pipelines from the processing location to an onshore collecting
point. FPSOs can give very cost-effectively smart resolution for smaller oil fields, which are estimated, be
worn out after few years of oil pumping out and do not validate the expenditure
of costly pipeline laying.
FPSOs ship may be a modified version of an earlier
oil tanker ship or may be a ship particularly constructed
for the offshore oil storing facilities. A ship used only to stock oil without
processing facilities onboard is known as a Floating Storage and Offloading vessel or FSO.
